We are so excited to announce that HIFF ʻŌpio Fest is featuring NEVER NOTHING directed by Heavenlee Hōkūnani Laka Botelho-Sarcedo made with with Marley Davidson, Zara Speicher, and Alana Creps. This short film was produced during our 2025 Summer Advanced Reel Camp through the generous support of the Tides Foundation and Hawaiʻi People's Fund.
In just one week, these talented students wrote a script, built a storyboard and shot list, learned the ins and outs of camera work, lighting, and sound, scouted locations, cast, acted, filmed, edited, and scored a powerful short film—now set to premiere as part of the Next Gen Showcase!
ʻŌpio Next Gen Showcase + Awards | Saturday, April 18 1:00pm
Consolidated Theatres Kahala

NEVER NOTHING; Two girls, Iris and Eve, share a complex relationship—something deeper than friendship but never quite crossing the threshold into love, suspended in a space where longing meets hesitation.
