This past Friday, we gathered for our recurring Wāhine in Film Pau Hana - a new initiative launched after our annual Wāhine in Mixer, when the need to be part of a supportive and collaborative environment was unanimously voiced.
After an initial round of introductions, we spent time talking about selecting characters for documentary filmmaking and how to use film storytelling for policymaking efforts - topics that emerged organically from the interests of the attendees.
Wāhine in the room asked questions and shared about their own filmmaking experiences. Contact information was exchanged, and new connections were made. When asked what the next elegant step should be, as a collective we agreed that we will be talking about fundraising strategies based on our own experience. And an hour went by so fast!
I am already looking forward to the next Pau Hana on December 18, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm (new time only for this one).
