HWF gives the gift of creativity
It’s the holiday season and what better gift was there to give an aspiring filmmaker but registration to one of Hawaiʻi Women in Filmmaking’s camps?
To promote them, our outreach team for Hawaiʻi Women in Filmmaking set up a booth at the 5th Annual Kamakakūakalani Kalikimaka Craft Fair at the Hālau o Haumea at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Although HWF may have seemed a bit out of place amongst booths of hand-made crafts, we definitely had great gifts to offer. From bags and T-shirts bearing our logo, our best offer for visitors to the fair was a gift certificate good for any of the camps for our winter session camps.
Perfectly timed for girls from middle school to undergraduates who are on winter break, HWF took this opportunity to spread the word that our Basic Reel, 2D Animation and Stop Motion camps were open for registration.
"Having girls leave with a gift to our film camp can lead to a transformative process for them and we want to make sure to facilitate just that,” said Development and Outreach Coordinator Danielle Ortiz-Padilla. “It's about giving our community a gift that will affirm their creativity, uplift their voice, and inspire young women to share their stories."
With purple ribbon and silver pen, Executive Director and Founder Vera Zambonelli made sure the gift certificates were nicely presented and ready to give to a lucky recipient.
