2023 Summer Reel Camps - Registration now open!
The Reel Camps are a brave, safe and creative space and time where girls (cis/trans), femmes, non-binary, gender-fluid and gender-queer youth and any other youth outside the gender binary unleash their creativity, build confidence, and initiate a long-term individual transformational journey from passive recipients of content that others create, to active creators and makers of their own stories - stories that need to be heard and seen.
This summer, we offer 3 Reel Camps: Animation, Basic Reel, and Advanced! See below each camp's details and how to register. We offer a pay-what-you-can sliding scale tuition to participate in our Summer programs. Please consider your household income, resources, and dependents when determining your contribution and financial aid request amount to cover the cost of tuition. We work with you to agree on an amount you can afford. This is an honor-based and confidential process.
We can offer these camps at a reduced cost and tuition assistance for all the programs thanks to the generosity of mads deshazo family. mads left us on January 25, 2023, due to a tragic accident. She had an instrumental role in developing and administering our youth filmmaking programs. She is dearly missed.
All programs are for girls(cis/trans), femmes, non-binary, gender-fluid and gender-queer youth and any other youth outside the gender binary. Age 12-19.

About the Registration Process
2023 Summer Animation Camp
An introductory workshop will ignite a spark in future animators through live demonstrations, practical techniques, and engaging crafts! The workshop will have activities ranging from thaumatrope making and flipbooks to clip draw overs and character design studies, each activity tailored to appeal to a different aspect of the animation pipeline. Learn with us how to define your tastes and express yourself in a way only animation can!

2023 Summer Basic Reel Camp
At the Basic Reel, you will learn storytelling, storyboarding, scriptwriting, use of professional camera, lighting, audio, and editing. Working in small production teams with a mentor, you will produce a short video, and so learn the skills to create your own media!

2023 Summer Advanced Reel Camp
Once you have a basic understanding of the filmmaking process, hone further your skills! Ideas for films will be pitched at our first session and the best four will be selected and produced during the camp!
