This workshop would touch upon the importance of filmmaking and story building techniques when creating a social media video for reels or TikTok.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- Social media platforms and algorithms
- What apps to use to create videos
- How to storyboard an effective reel
Open to women and girls (cis/trans), femmes, non-binary, gender-fluid and gender-queer of all ages and all skill levels
Time: 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

About the instructor
Emily Smith is the current Digital Media Specialist at the HAWAI’I Magazine and Filmmaking Instructor at Hawai’i Women in Filmmaking. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa and is working towards her Masters in Communication Management at the University of Southern California. Growing up, Emily loved filmmaking and posting her videos to social media. She soon learned that both social media and filmmaking were integrated with one another when she took her job with the HAWAI’I Magazine. One of her roles include creating TikTok and Reel content, in which she utilizes the storyboarding, filming, and editing tools she learned as a filmmaker. Overall, Emily is passionate about teaching others how they can integrate filmmaking into social media in order to boost their following and engagement.
